It's not your grandmother's food storage, folks.
As promised, here are a few of my bottles of strawberry lemonade concentrate. These will go on my shelves (Well, they will if I can keep my family out of them for a bit!) Also in my food storage are a couple cases of ginger ale (bought on sale this week) to add a little bit of sparkle to the lemonade after it's reconstituted with water.
I went to the farmer's market today to see if I could find anything to can. Here's a look at what I brought home:
And now, if you'll excuse me, I have some work to do.

Well, it's Avery's grandmother's food storage. :)
ReplyDeletethese are beautiful jars of ruby goodness! This sounds like a really great idea! What other flavors do you make?
ReplyDeleteJennie, the only other flavor in my canning recipe book is for a strawberry and rhubarb drink concentrate. I've never had rhubarb or seen it in a grocery store, so I don't know that I'll ever make it. I've heard people I know say they love it. Does Tom grow rhubarb?
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so gorgeous. Like you'd want this to decorate your kitchen even if you couldn't eat it.
ReplyDeleteMy mother made rhubarb pie. I can't say I ever developed a taste for it, though my dad loves it. I know that if you cook it incorrectly, it can make you sick. Cause my mom told me. What a great idea to do the concentrate! My kiddos got in trouble with me for leaving the outside freezer door not shut correctly, and some of my food thawed partially, so it had to be cooked. Including some of my frozen raspberries. So I made a bunch of jars of raspberry sauce, which I probably wouldn't have made otherwise. It's delicious. I should thank them. Nah.
